研究テーマ

1日本鉄道業の発展に関する研究
A historical study of the railway in Japan

日本における鉄道の経済史に関する研究書の取りまとめを目指す．現在，鉄道業を，a）機関車製造技術を中心とした鉄道技術の形成過程を考える，b）大企業の起源という視点から鉄道企業の経済史的研究を進める，c）日本の産業革命を鉄道を事例にローカルとグローバルの双方の視点から捉え直すという3つの側面から研究している．

2地域経済に関する研究
A study of industrialization and local vitality

日本における産業化の過程で，地域社会・経済がどのような役割を果たしたのかという問題を，現在の地域再生問題との対比に留意しながら議論する．とくに岩手県釜石市を中心とする被災地の復興過程の調査・研究を，オーラル・ヒストリーの手法を用いて行っている．なおこの研究は，希望学・釜石調査（2006～2008年度），希望学・福井調査（2009～2012年度），危機対応学・釜石調査（2016～2019年度）といった社会科学研究所を中心とする総合地域調査の成果を取り入れている．

3経営者と労働者のオーラル・ヒストリー
Oral histories of managers and labors in Post-war Japan

近年，歴史学の分野で注目を集めているオーラル・ヒストリーの手法を用いて，戦後日本における企業経営のあり方を，経営者と現場労働者の双方の視点から照射することを目指す．
